Lore of Track 7: By pure chance, Dol Dom and Doom become the first customers of the shop *Charms & Curses*. [Intro] HMHMHMM HMHM [Verse 1] Every morning I unlock the same old door. The bell knows me better than my name. Some come for answers. Some come for protection. Some come only to hear that everything will be all right. Some ask for charms. Some ask for curses. (nomen est omen) Some ask for things that never existed. But no one ever asks for what they truly need. [Verse 2] [door chime] I watched my first customer. He wandered around his question, as if words could hide it. He always needed time before he said what he truly wants. [door chime] Then Doom came in. [spoken] One moment, Doom. Look around. I'll be with you soon. [/spoken] At last Dol Dom asked if I knew of a charm that could hide him from human eyes. HAHEHAHAHA I laughed. [spoken] You want a charm to hide you from humans? Humans only see you when you allow them to. Just as I see you now. Or have you lost that gift? [/spoken] He hated being laughed at. And that amused me even more. [Chorus] They come with hidden hearts, and wrapped-up words. They chase away what they should face. They fear the doors that lead them home. And every secret finds its way. [Verse 3] Then he spoke of a young woman... an exhibition... pictures containing ghosts. [spoken] Ghosts? That is not the same thing. You are a spirit. So tell me: what is your real problem? [/spoken] Then he admitted he only wanted it in case she could see spirits too. Really rare. Totally impossible? No. Just very unlikely. I had no such charm. But I knew someone who might. [door chime] [Bridge] Doom did not come to me. Not yet. I saw the shadows under his eyes. I remembered another night. The last time he came to my door, he carried nightmares from his prison. I helped him silence them. But these shadows were different. Older. Something had returned. And now he had heard something in my shop. Something that mattered more than his fear. I smiled. Some answers find their way before we are ready. [Chorus] They come with hidden hearts, and wrapped-up words. They chase away what they should face. They fear the doors that lead them home. And every secret finds its way. [Outro - spoken] [door chime] The door closed. He will return. Not because I called him, but because he is ready.
