✧14🌙Not Mine to Choose

Lore of track 14: When Doom's dreams let him mistake the times he travels into the past to understand this new burdon. [Verse 1] The dream returns, but now it speaks, a hidden page I could not see. She stands before me once again, but now she is facing me. Her father holds her little son, his hands are shaking as they part. She turns to me and whispers low, a mother speaking from her heart. I know the law. I know the path. I know the choice that is not mine. But in her eyes I see a mother, whose heart has chosen one last time. [Chorus] They took my name, they took my wings, they chained me to hundreds of years. For one small mercy I allowed, they answered with thousands of my tears. I saved a child from losing more, I gave a mother one last choice. How could a heart that shows compassion be the reason for my fall? [Verse 2] Now I awake, but I am not. The dream remains behind my eyes. The voices follow through the day, the shadows wear familiar signs. The world I knew begins to shift. I cannot tell what's real or not. If I lose myself inside this darkness, what will remain of who I was? Sometimes I wake and see her face, the mother or my Eun-ha near. Am I remembering the past, or dreaming she is still right here? [Chorus 2] They took my name, they took my wings, they chained me to hundreds of years. I thought my punishment was done, I thought I paid with thousands of my tears. I carried all those captive years, I thought the debt was paid in full. Why must I suffer once again for doing what I thought was good? [Bridge] The shaman lit the ancient marks, the ruins answered from below. "This path was closed for centuries. I only show the way to go." "I cannot promise your return. I cannot follow where you fall. The past may open up its doors... but it may not bring you home at all." "Leave something from this world behind. Leave an anchor to the man you are." I placed my staff among the stones, my last connection to today. "The choice is yours," she whispered low. And I stepped into yesterday. [Outro] I thought I carried only blame. I thought the past had sealed my fate. But somewhere beyond yesterday, the truth was waiting at the gate.
